"EB-2 India. This category is expected to remain unchanged or to move very slowly forward (by a week or so) in the short-term. This is mainly caused by the fact that many EB-3 India applicants (there are approximately 60,000 EB-3 India pending cases) are �porting� their priority dates into the EB-2 India category and are thus taking visa numbers.
EB2 India is slowwly becoming EB3 as thousands are porting from EB3 to EB2. Some of them are really worthy of EB2 and some of them are fradulent.
EB2 India applicants should wake up from their celebratio of a few months leap and get ready for slow movement or retro.
Guys wake up and fight to make the porting rules veryu strong if not stop porting. The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicatnt should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. Is this rally still on? On 14th? Then please update the first post on this thread which still says July 7th - it is confusing.
Also, considering that there are only 4 more days to the rally if it is on 14th, we need considerably more publicity in the media and on blogs on this.
This rally will be a watershed event because as far as I know, this would be the first of its kind by skilled, legal immigrants and it should get the media attention that it deserves.

I consider the 30-40 range 'golden' years . Enough experience to handle various things without much botheration of senility. Depression is not continuous, but comes once in a while. Currently i am optimistic that India EB2 will move forward starting Oct.2008 and my PD of Nov.2002 will become current some time in 2009 and i will be inching to 10 years of SSN eligibility.
I also have following kind of worries too, which haunt me often.
Being the 'only son' there is a big emotional pull from the parents to take care of them. But am worried about 'transporting' the American citizen kid back to India ( like them adjusting to the culture there ). Now my batch mates who got GC ( because they came early to USA and got lucky. One India EB2 friend - applied PERM in 2005 & I-485 in 2005 - got his GC in Aug 2007 ! ) , aiming for citizenship , then they want to move to India and plan to bring up kids there. And when they are 'ripe' for higher studies, march back to USA.

I guess I saw a mistake on the writing....
On July 13th, 2007, DoS provided a glimmer of hope to these aspiring legal immigrants, by announcing in their visa bulletin (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3258.html) that all Employment-based green card applicants and their dependents would be eligible to apply for their Green cards, during the month of July 2007
It is June 13th not July13th the first visa bulletin sent out by DoS.

My vote goes for DC on 7/14. Many people like me might have already used their time off recently to get a medical exam and paperwork for I-485. I live in Baltimore area and simply cannot make it to DC on a weekday. If I lose my job I won't get a green card - as simple as that.
If there are others in Baltimore area who would like to join the action please don't hesitate to contact me. We could car pool and get together to make signs. I'll also try to gather some friends, although it might be tough on a short notice - almost everyone is on vacation.

My PD is Aug 2006 and I might have a remote chance of getting approved this month. Can someone give me the customer service number to talk about the 485 status. I keep seeing that many people talk to the customer service and get updates on the case. My case is pending at TSC. Thanks a lot.

IV effort needs 50 thousand dollars to make sure we can meet our immediate needs and also make a big impact via this advocacy day event. There are several large and small expenses like booking hotel conference room near Capitol hill for organizing the event/situation room, Organizing reception for lawmakers, their staffers, and administration officials to attend, creating advocacy packets for each appointment taken, advocacy firm fees for helping out with a large event like this etc. We can plan more ideas like Press briefing event, full page ads in national newspapers if we can have sufficient resources. This event will most certainly bring our issues to the national center stage and help us get much needed immigration relief in the months ahead. i'm glad someone brought this up, i'm in the same boat, came in 1998, applied in jul 2003 eb2.
i think it is important to get at the bottom of what is making one depressed, is it the gc necessarily, or is it not being able to do what you want to do? if it is the process itself, well - joining IV or talking to people and fighting for a cause is the way to go.
if it is not the process itself, then it is another story.
in my case, the gc process really started affecting me and became a topic of daily discussion in the family in the past 2 yrs, after i finished my mba from a top 5 school, and was unable to switch jobs because it meant starting tge process all over again. i could care less about a gc if i could do jobs that i wanted to. in your case, it might be something else, maybe career related or otherwise.
my stand is now simple, after 180 days are over in dec, i'm going to do what i want to do i.e switch jobs etc, i've applied to canada as a backup, something goes wrong, i'll leave the usa. i'm not willing to put any more of my life in a 'prison' than i already have.
you may have a different stand, but as long as you have one, and understand that the gc is nowhere as important as your mental health and well-being, you will be fine.

I really don't understand these Attorneys. Its clearly mentioned on 485 form that ALL 485 petitions should go to NSC. period.
And as far as I know, due to awareness and the fact we all are professionals who can go to USCIS site and read the instructions in black and white, we should not just rely on this morons (attorneys.. though there are some good ones around)
If you read http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/BiSpec_063006FS.pdf, you'll see that there is a line on page 2 that specifically says "Until further notice, USCIS will not reject applications or petitions filed at an incorrect Service Center. Instead, USCIS will accept the filing, redirect it to the correct location, and honor the initial receipt date."
So if you already know that your I-485 will be adjudicated by the service center where your I-140 was processed, you just save some processing time by sending it there. This is nothing but blatant discrimination. There is always a great fight among Americans about affirmative action. Affirmative action is not reservation quota like in India, its about trying to do something to help minorities. There are no fixed quotas in affirmative action. Even for this there is fierce debate.
Now we have to make our case to the American public and politicians. Even if a nominal affirmative action can rile up the whole American society from state and local politics all the way to the Supreme Court how discriminating is it for half of million Indians who are tax paying legal workers to get only 7% of the yearly visas. This is outright discrimination. Maybe the framers of the law did not see this situation coming but thats exactly what happened and we should make our case for the removal of the 7% limit. Only then will American dream triumph. Ignore the ROW people (I am not insulting ROW by saying ignores them) obviously they have a good thing going so they will oppose it, ignore them and highlight our plight. we EB immigrants are not diversity immigrants, we came here on h1b or f1 which has no country limits, when we are hired we were hired based on qualifications not based on country of birth so why discriminate in the EB green card visas which are purely for employment purposes. Let’s devise an action plan which highlights our pitiable situation, for example here is my case

Unless this is exposed Indians will end up in this mess for ever untill we die or are kicked out with endless Employment verification letter, birth certificate rfe etc etc etc.
The EB-2 category for Indian nationals has retrogressed four years and will be set at January 1, 2000 for applications received beginning June 1st. If you are from China, the backlog is five years less - February 15, 2005. And if you are from any other country in the world, there is no wait at all. I am really appalled that Congress allows such an unjust distribution methodology to remain the law. No country is permitted to claim more than 7% of the numbers in a green card category. That means tiny countries like Andorra and Botswana get the same...

Mine is Eb 3..was sent to Nebraska, got there July 2, signed by R. Michaels at 9 am...Transfered to Texas,Received July 6...They sent me the Notice of Action for my 140 but I don't know anything else and I also sent at the same time 485-765 for my whole family...

Mr. Vayalar Ravi , Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs,is coming to USA on June 27,2006. He is coming to Washington DC on July 4 to meet Indian Ambassador and Indian community. We should try to meet him personally and explain the problems we are facing. He can talk to US counterparts and do something for us.
Let us organize an event to meet him on July 4. Since It is a holiday, lot of people can meet him and chat with him.
Like he will care about us. If he does care, he can not do anything unless he gets OK from Madam Sonia:-)

Last week someone with last name Powell (looked very proud to me) from state deptt was on situation room with Wolf Blitzer. Her office was in charge of increasing the enrollment of internartional students in your contry. She had reduced the time for processing F1 visa to a week. She even went to middle east. Get her deptt closed proudly. This will improve your educational system also.
If you can not stop her, ask her to tell all students that F1 will not be converted to H1B or H1B will not be converted to green card.
This will stop the problem at the root and you can enjoy your wealth proudly.
Why don't posters on this forum move back to their home country and concentrate on making their home country great instead of slamming into someone else's country and just living off the wealth others have created?

Hundreds of thousands of American programmers have lost their job to the third world, both in outsourcing and insourcing of third world programmers who work for cheaper wages. There is absolutely no need for more foreigners here and no need for more green cards. Temporary workers are just that - temporary. If you are on a temporary visa, work your time, make some money for your family and head home when your time is up. Don't cry that we don't provide enough green cards when you knew what kind of visa you were on.
