As the CIR bill outline is getting introduced today, we all need to do our share in making our voice heard. Our issues are real and affect about a million people patiently waiting in line for past several years. We are high-skilled immigrants who have followed all the rules and contribute significantly to the innovation and economy of this county. Our strength is our grassroots efforts, so let us all call our lawmakers and ask them to take immediate action on the immigration bill.
Call your Legislators:
Immigration Voice is organizing a nationwide call-the-lawmakers drive. We request members to call each and every senator and congress member. This drive will precede the �Advocacy Day(s)� in Washington, DC and �Meet the lawmaker� drive in local districts. Members can use this phone call conversation with their local lawmaker offices to follow-up with lawmakers when they meet during the break just after the Memorial day.
Don�t miss this opportunity:
This is the perfect time to call the lawmakers. The bill needs a push via support from people like us and all lawmakers needs to be encouraged and urged to help us. There are indications that there will be lot of activity on immigration issues in both House and Senate after the Memorial day. We need to make those activities go in our favor and not die like the CIR bill in 2006 & 2007. Thus it is important to starting calling lawmakers, starting from the Senate members. In order to capitalize on this opportunity, it is very important that everyone calls every lawmaker of this country. The similar next opportunity will be in 2013. We can participate now or we will all have ourselves to blame.

I would sincerely request you to please convey to the Senator if he would consider supporting some version of the immigration

Instead of doing all of this, First, if we able to make every one just take one day off from work on the same day through out the USA and let our employers and the press knows that we are doing this to show about our issues. We do not need to go on rally. At least if we take off on the same day through out USA to make sure people understand about our issues and our sufferings. I am not sure how it will help. At least if we make it to be notified by the government, .press, our employers. and the public about our issues.

I dunno about which bank is the best but I guarantee this ICICI does sucks! they act like as if they are ruling NRI. and of course like anyone else we had a very bad experience talking with their home loan dept too. Honestly - If I may say something about this....I can say this with 100% confidence that sooner or later we all will witness their demise. count on it.
The point is that they cannot JUST do this to us(NRI) or I can say it is we who made their success if they are really. but by the sheer power of community like this - we can definitely teach them a good lesson by just quit banking with ICICI. guess what you will be proud of what you did in the very near future. Well, SBI still IS doing reasonably and you still can get better rates though.

I can see how it will affect many people's (including mine) spouses job prospects.
Assuming it takes longer than 12 months, what are the options here? I would like to understand what AC21 says. Is having an EAD a precondition of using the AC21 provision i.e. does it say -
"an employee after 6 months of filing 485 AND having an EAD in hand can switch jobs"
or does it say
"6 months after filing 485, the employee can switch"

But I think franklin posted earlier that she got her GC when the priority dates are not current. And shows about 5 EB3s from India got approvals during September whos PDs are on or after 2003.Do you think USCIS might have requested the visa number for their cases when their PD was current?
Theory 1: I got assigned a visa number as soon as my case arrived at USCIS in early June.
Theory 2: Spend as much time talking to lawmakers and reporters as I do, they want to shut that squeaky wheel up.

My Labor was certified this week from PBEC. My PD is Mar '05. Is Premium filing for I-141 advised?
If you are in EB2, then might as well go for PP for the I-140. Regular at Nebraska is taking 8 months. Given the way dates move erratically, if you get current in the next couple of months (I hope you do, mine is the same PD) you wont have I-140 to worry about, you'll be all set.

Please feel free to change or modify the letter to suit your situation. Do whatever you need to do, but make sure you mail out the letter & the form soon. Also, encourage others in similar situation to take the time to mail the letters & form soon.

I have a suggestion! I don't think forcing monthly $25 contribution to keep donor status alive is a very good idea, especially in current economy. Take an example of myself. It is decided that I am going to loose job on 17th March, may not be able to contribute every month.

I think IV core can give lifetime exception to active members like 'ItIsNotFunny' for their efforts. For others, let monthly contribution stay.

I haven't received 45 day letter yet. My lawyer faxed twice to find out the status but no reply from PBEC. Is there any way to find out the status?Anybody here whose case is pending from 2001.
Typically they send replies after a month or so. So please be patient and give a month or two. Then you should see some info regarding case status.
